Oximoron. A videoinstallation about time perception

Córdoba (Argentina) 2009.

Mara Balestrini and Federico Alvarez worked together since 2006 in the field of video and art. Oxymoron The video installation is part of a series of essays in dialogue with the problem of time as a phenomenon of human perception.

In that sense, Oxymoron is an interactive platform that offers the viewer / interactor a reflection on how we build the idea of time in the mind from the registration and subsequent projection of his own image at different stages.

Also, the piece questions the role of the viewers and their relationship to the artistic object. In undercover registration Oxymoron interactor becomes the represented object. A loop is created and the subject observes his own representation in an act of artistic consumption.

Finally, the work is a question that arises from contemporary theories of the field of physics, neuroscience and cognitive science, that understand time as a mental construct and not a physical phenomenon external to the subject.
